Learning Potential Foundation
We provide caring, community-based developmental supports for preschool-aged children in Calgary, Airdrie and surrounding areas.
Helping Children Be Their Best Self
Learning Potential Foundation was created to give children access to meaningful early support during some of the most important years of development. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and participate in their community with confidence.
Our work focuses on supporting children in community preschool and daycare settings. By partnering with childcare facilities, families, and professional specialists, we help identify developmental needs and provide practical strategies that support each child’s success.
We do not wish to label children. Instead, we focus on understanding each child’s unique strengths and needs so that the right supports can be put in place.
“‘I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the children in our community by providing free access and resources to much needed support services within the precious early years.’”
Mission
To create a unique environment and learning opportunities where children can explore, learn, practice skills, and grow in all areas of development.
Vision
To see children make progress through play, learning new skills, practicing, exploring, and engaging
To provide an ECS program where ALL children belong
To work with families to ensure the most success for each child
To reach out to the community so that we can be a useful resource to families with children who have needs.
Our Values
Team Work
We believe that working together as a whole team approach, with families, teachers, and professional supports, that we are able to provide the best possible outcomes for every child’s individual needs.
Balance
We place value in balancing fun and learning. If we can get children to a place where they love to learn, all else is possible.
Growth
We continue to reflect and seek to improve so we can stay up to date with best practices.
Diversity
We value the differences in each family, child, and staff that we work with; it creates a uniqueness that can’t be matched.
Community
We value the opportunities that are offered through partnering with community members.
Learning Potential
Learning Potential offers preschool screenings to all age-eligible children with partnering childcare facilities. As a starting point, our preschool screenings are for speech/language and fine motor skills. Our goal is to ensure children are on track with their development; if we notice any areas that may benefit from support, we can offer services to support children in these areas.
If a parent has concerns about their child's development (speech, motor, behaviour) or if a child has a diagnosis, we can support in additional ways through either PUF, Mild/Moderate, or EAL funding.
Our services are at no cost to families/facilities and run from Sept to June (the typical school year).
History of Learning Potential
Janice is a Certified Teacher that has worked in the field of Early Childhood Services for over 15 years. With her experience and passion to support ALL children, coupled with the need for quality ECS services to enrich the lives of children who benefit from additional services, Learning Potential was realized.
In 2020, Learning Potential began supporting preschool-aged children within community preschools and daycares through PUF, Mild/Moderate, and ESL Funding.
The Learning Potential difference
Our ultimate goal is to provide children the opportunities to grow and learn in order to be their best self!
We do not wish to label but rather to provide strategies and supports for the success of each child.

Learning Potential partners with preschools and daycares in many cities across Alberta (currently mainly in the Calgary area). If your center doesn’t partner with Learning Potential, we can arrange a meeting with your center to see if they would be open to partnering with us.
-
Please contact us to arrange an online or in-person conversation about what we can offer and how our supports can compliment your center. We would sign a one-year partnership agreement (that we can renew each year) that outlines the expectations of both your center and our foundation. Then we would choose a date for our team to come do screenings at your center.
